Im not a Designer.....

...but I just designed a scarf....lol. Pick a Yarn...any Yarn...because basically that is all I did. Some thick ones..some eyelash...some hand spun with a bit of sparkle....anything really. The scarf is knit sideways in Garter stitch. It is more of a Formula then a Pattern....I'm not really a designer!!! The whole point of this scarf is the L O N G fringe.(Mine are 70cm)

Using thick needles through out cast on as many stitches as you think you need to just go around your neck. ( I cast on 60 in the thickest yarn I used).
Knit every row leaving a L O N G tail on either end.
Cast of when you think you have enough row's or are bored with knitting.
Secure the ends by knotting them together. If you find that there are some big gaps you don't like simply add some more Yarn using a crochet hook....and your done!!

Every Year it's the same....

I get a head start on Christmas and then....bang...it somehow creeps up on me!! I mean what is that about? It comes round every year at the same time...I know it is coming...I know I need gifts and such and still....time runs away with me!!! I know I am not the only one this happens to. And what makes it worse is the fact that I know this will happen....every year!!! Now this year with the lack of funds it's even more difficult to catch up since I decided people will get Handmade gifts. But not easy small gifts like socks....oh hell no I decide they have to get scarves and hats and a chuffing Blanket!! I am trying to catch up...but...do you know how difficult that is when you have the attention span of a Knat???!!
A few month ago I decided to make the Tree of life Afghan for David....didn't like the look in the end so now I am making the 'Log Cabin Afghan' from Mason-Dixon knitting. Talk about being mentally deranged! What possesses me to think I will get this finished by Christmas??? But I shall give it my best shot. Loads of People have done it including the Yarn Harlot...so surely!!!?? I just keep getting sidetracked!! When himself announced he would love to have hand knit Socks....well talk about throwing a spanner in the works....I just had to knit some didn't I?? I have made one pair already and I am on the second pair right now. Then I am planning a scarf and some Fingerless Mittens for Jess. I am already half way with the scarf...it's just an easy drop stitch I am using. I got this untold amount of Rowan Spray in a pinkie colour...it was a bargain!! £0.99 pence about a Year or so ago!!! Who was I to not take advantage of that?!!! I also have decided...again to make gifts for my Co-workers...we do every Year.....nothing fancy or anything. With any Luck I shall get away with a Boozy gift this Year. When we were in Germany I tried for the first time something called Lemoncello.....it is Divine!!!! So I did a bit of a search and came across the recipe...in various forms. So today I made a start on that as well. I just hope that if it Taste like I hope it does I can part with it....lol
In other news....I am still waiting for a Job transfer to Lincoln....it's been 4 weeks already! There just isn't any Staff movements these day's...people aren't leaving their Jobs the way they used to. I have considered looking for something else but even that is proving difficult in these times. My job is relatively secure and obviously I don't want to risk being the last in and the first out if there should need to be cuts. It is just so frustrating. I have resigned myself to the fact that I probably never move down there now after all:( I keep being told I need to be patient....yeah I know I do...but try and have a Long Distant relationship with someone...it's not easy....

Post Holiday Blues....(lenghty)

That is what I have suffered with this whole week...not just me but MrC as well. Maybe a little write-up/recap would be nice!!???
The Saturday we left was a pretty good one to get us in the Holiday mood....MrC's Parents have given him some photos and Postcards of his Great Great grandfather, who lived in Lincoln and was a Butcher/ Butchers Apprentice so we traced some of the old Butchers shops! Bearing in mind that these cards are 100 years old we did pretty well. We found all but one shop!! On one Postcard we were able to read the address so we checked that out, and it turned out to be only just about 200/300 yards or so up from where MrC lives now!!! That is where his grandfather used to live and receive these Postcards. The Cards were from a Friend in Nottingham...so we shall do a little investigation there at some point as well! What a great Holiday start. But my excitement was much greater...I was going to finally go over the Humber Bridge!!!It is an awesome sight and I love love loved it. Then onto the Ferry to Rotterdam and a nice relaxed civilised crossing. Sunday saw us getting into Holland and driving down to Osnabrueck, where we stayed with Friends of his and where I got the Sock Yarn from my picture posts. What I also got was the chance to go into a fantastic Ice cream Parlour!!! They just don't have them over here...well not like that anyway. The photo shows my Spaghetti ice, which just happens to be my favourite. As a matter of Fact I turned the whole Holiday into a Food Fest!!! All the lovely German Foods I grew up with....I swear I put on a few pounds...actually I know I have!!
On the Tuesday we left the friends and went onto 'The Nuerburgring'. I now understand a lot more why 'himself' loves it so...he is as addicted to the Ring as I am to yarn!!! She is his Mistress...there is no doubt in my mind at all. We stayed in a Guesthouse called 'Sliders'.... all I will say is that if your into Bikes and all you want/need is a clean bed and Shower this is the place to stay!! It is a good fortune for MrC that I have pretty low standards!!! But the people are ace...I cannot fault that. We did quiet a few Ride outs...to the Point that my backside got so sore that I longed for a soft comfy seat in a car....lol. When MrC took me to Cochem he made me cry!!! He told me before we left he would take me but somehow my brain did not register anything other then excitement. But when he finally rounded the corner at the top to descend into the valley and I got to see it...well Tears just shot into my Eyes!!! You see, it is well over 10 Years since I been to Cochem and I never thought I see it again. It is not my Hometown or anything...it simply is a beautiful warm and lovely place....a place I feel at Home in. We both had such a great time and himself even got a few Laps of his beloved ring in. I managed to only do a little Knitting. I managed to get one Sock finished with Fibrespades Yarn he bought me in Scotland. And I got a few more inches added to the BoneYard Shawl I took as my Travelling Project. I did not get to buy anymore Yarn...just no time to find Yarn shops. But.... I did get something else I been wanting for a very long time!!! I got some 'Birkenstock's!!!(Modeled with the single Sock) My Feet adore them, as do I. I have a Summer pair and now I have a Winter pair...I love them. And I have no doubt I shall get some more.
All in all I can only say what a fabulous time we had and I shall go again at some point.....I won't go as many time as himself does but I have no doubt I shall manage to make the trip at least once or twice a year. Due to the Fact that I am no good in Crowds we have already decided that I shall go either at the beginning or at the end of the season...so that will give me something to look forward to for the next year......
Till Next time xx
